Celebrating Vesak 2563 Buddhist calendar

TTH.VN - On the morning of May 19, at Tu Dam Pagoda, Hue City, the Provincial Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha held a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 2563rd birthday of Buddha with the participation of numerous monks and nuns and Buddhists.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Bui Thanh Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

At the ceremony, Venerable Thich Duc Thanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Organizing Committee read the message from the Dharma Master of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Venerable Thich Duc Thanh affirmed: "The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha inherits and promotes the elite values ​​of Vietnamese Buddhism in history, always accompanying the nation. Looking back on Vietnam's international integration process, we can be delighted with Vietnam's positive, proactive and responsible contributions to the international community which have been recognized and appreciated by the United Nations. The fact that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha hosted the United Nation’s Vesak celebration this year has affirmed that. At the same time, this does affirm the role and position of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in international integration.”

Next was the Rite of Offering to Buddha, which was celebrated in a solemn manner in the presence of numerous monks and nuns and Buddhists. During the Vesak of this year, the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized many activities lasting from the first to the fifteenth of the fourth Lunar month - April (May 5 - 19), such as: Opening Scripture ceremony at the Tu Dam Pagoda; opening the exhibition at Lieu Quan Buddhist Cultural Center; Moc Duc Ceremony - procession of escorting Buddha from Dieu De Pagoda to Tu Dam Pagoda...
