The people were satisfied and excited

From the early morning, more than 200 households representing 523 households in 4 inner Citadel wards, including Thuan Thanh, Thuan Loc, Thuan Hoa and Tay Loc to be relocated, had gathered and were eager to see the resettlement land. In just over one more month, these people will relocate permanently to this land. Walking around the 9-13m wide urban roads, paved sidewalks with trees, electricity, the people were happy, excited and satisfied with their resettlement land.

Having lived over 47 years in the Thuong Thanh area, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan (72 years old) and her family (living in Group 5, Thuan Thanh ward) had never been more excited to move. Ms. Lan said that the furniture and personal belongings had been cleaned up and they were just waiting for the day to move.

“I've been hearing about relocating for a long time, but I didn’t know where we would go. Today I saw firsthand the plots of land that the city has arranged for our family and neighbors. So, I am quite content and excited. From the cramped houses and narrow streets of less than 2 meters wide, now we are about to be moved to a spacious resettlement area with a 10m wide paved road, a pavement and a bright electricity system. I would never have dreamt that this would be my land and home,” said Ms. Lan.

Mr. Tran Luong at Group 14 Thuan Loc also could not hide his joy when the whole family of 7 people was about to be moved to the modern resettlement area along with the house designs of the city, creating conditions for households to build and live in houses that are beautiful, convenient, and reasonably priced.

At the meeting, Ms. Phan Thi Chau at Group 15, Thuan Loc Ward worried: “Looking at the land which is about to become our family’s new residence, I am very happy and excited. But ours is a poor household and my son has mental problems, so I do not have money to build a house. Despite receiving the compensation money from the State, without any additional money, and no one to help with the construction, I don’t know when I would have a house to live in”.

Erasing the worries of Ms. Chau, Hue City People's Committee leader affirmed that, for 32 poor households in Thuong Thanh area who do not have the means to build houses after relocation, in addition to the prescribed support policy framework, the Province will mobilize resources and call for support from benefactors to raise funding to build houses for the people.

Construction of a model residential area

Of which, the area 1 has basically been completed. Work in area 2 is speeding up and is expected to be completed by December 5, ready for the resettlement in mid-December 2019.

Currently, Hue City People's Committee has completed the compensation and support plan and is preparing a resettlement arrangement plan, which is expected to be completed on November 1, 2019. According to the plan, from November 6 to 26, the city will publicize the plan of compensation, support and resettlement. From November 30 to December 5, the plan for compensation, support and resettlement will be approved and by mid-December 2019, the first phase of relocation will begin.

After listening to the thoughts, questions and wishes of the people, Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho affirmed that the resettlement of people from zone 1 of Hue Citadel will be led by the leaders of the province, city and related agencies and departments to create the most favorable conditions for the people.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee said that this is a big policy of the province, so for years, the provincial and city leaders have focused on clearance and construction of the resettlement area’s infrastructure, and planned compensation and support projects so that people can build decent and clean houses.

Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, appreciated the people for their active support for the city in asset tally and confirmation of documents so that the relocation will be carried out smoothly and on schedule. For the resettlement area’s infrastructure, the place where people will live permanently, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirms that this is a model residential area. This aligns with the provincial’s aim of working towards a standard green, clean, bright urban space with road, traffic and lighting systems and green trees.

Currently, Hue City People's Committee has finished designing house samples for people to refer to and choose from. The city is also calling for investment in the construction of kindergartens and recreation areas to create the best and most favorable conditions for households to settle down in their new places.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Ngoc Tho presented hundreds of plastic baskets and glass bottles to the people with the hope that after moving to their new place, people should use plastic baskets to buy daily food and at the same time use glass bottles to store water; and say no to plastic bags, single-use plastic bottles, contributing to environmental protection and solid waste reduction.
