Festival "Thanh tra – Taste of Hue" 2018 will have many attractive activities

On January 20th, the Department of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property and the Ministry of Science and Technology, held a ceremony of announcing, awarding and receiving the Protective Certificate of “Hue” Geographical Indication for Thanh Tra grapefruits of Thua Thien Hue province.

No one knows of the ancient origin of this sweet fruit which was predestined to call Hue, the ancient capital, its home. But clearly, thanh tra pomelo has been existing here, in the spirit of the earth and the people, of the rivers and mountains, as a wonder of a gift bestowed from mother nature.

The 7th Thuy Bieu Thanh Tra Pomelo Festival in 2022 will take place from September 1st to the 4th.

According to Mr. Ho Vang, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in mid-2016, the Provincial People's Committee issued the decision to restructure the agricultural sector towards the direction of developing safe, sustainable, and high-tech farming, with the focus on key crops such as plantation forests, organic rice, safe vegetables, fruit trees, etc. These plants have brought about high economic efficiency for local people.

The thanh trà (local pomelo) offering ritual in 2018 with the support of Hue Monuments Conservation Center was re-enacted methodically and meticulously in accordance with historical documents.
