Hue chess team aims to defend its first position in first tournament of the year
On the morning of February 15, at Hue College of Sports and Physical Education, the XVII Central Vietnam’s Open Chess and Chinese Chess Tournament for the youth groups in 2019 was officially kicked off.

The tournament is co-organized by the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports and the Vietnam Chess Federation, bringing together more than 300 athletes of 18 teams, competing in the contents of standard chess, fast chess, blitz of chess, and Chinese chess.
Mr. Nguyen Phu, coach of Hue Chess team, said that 60 chess athletes and 20 Chinese chess athletes from Hue participated in the tournament. With the advantage of playing at home, Hue team determined to win several gold medals, and successfully defend its first position in the whole tournament. "Currently, the host team has many well-performing athletes, such as Nguyen Ha Khanh Linh, Ha Phuong Hoang Mai, and Binh Nguyen, etc. Hopefully, they will bring joy to our sport sector in the first tournament of the year," Coach Nguyen Phu said.
Chess matches taking place in the tournament
According to the Organization Board, this tournament is alternately organized in provinces and cities. This year, Hue is entitled to host the tournament, all the organization and preparation work is carried out early and very carefully, promising to bring about an attractive and successful tournament.
The tournament is expected to close on February 17.
