Huyen Tran Temple Festival opens

TTH.VN - On the morning of February 13 (the 9th of Tet), the Huyen Tran Temple Festival in the Spring of the Ky Hoi Lunar New Year 2019 officially opened at Huyen Tran Cultural Center (Ngu Phong Mountain, An Tay Ward, Hue City). This is one of the activities of a series of cultural events, and festivals celebrating the Party and the Spring.

Reenacting the fate and sacrifice of Princess Huyen Tran

With the theme of “Respect to Predecessors”, the Huyen Tran Temple Festival in the Spring of the Ky Hoi Lunar New Year 2019 opened with a special epic art program reenacting the life and great merits of Princess Huyen Tran, who sacrificed her own love more than 700 years ago to contribute to the forming of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan - Thua Thien Hue region, with a worthy position in the nation’s history.

To praise Princess Huyen Tran's merits, the art program structure was expressed with epic characteristics, with the performances including the songs with Nam Binh tune “Nước non ngàn dặm”, “Huyền Trân tiếng tơ lòng”, “Dòng sông nỗi nhớ”, and the Northern Chau Van singing (about Huyen Tran), and the scene of the Princess going to Buddha place after fulfilling her country missions, returns to the homeland, via the dance performance of “Sac tam”.

After the ritual parts and the ceremony of drum beating to open the Festival, the leaders of the province, departments, branches and localities, the locals and visitors offered incense to remember, express their respect and gratitude to Buddha Emperor Tran Nhan Tong and Princess Huyen Tran, as well as the predecessors for their great merits in expanding the land of the country.

Mr. Phan Tien Dung, Director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports emphasized: “Huyen Tran Temple Festival deeply expresses the traditional identity, to commemorate and appreciate the predecessors. A festival held with bold traditional characteristics, combined with the Chin Ham (Nine Cellars) Relic Area, and Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hue, which are tourist destinations attracting visitors”.

Thanks to the sunny weather, in two days, from the 8th to the 9th of Tet, many locals and visitors flocked to Huyen Tran Cultural Center for visiting and sightseeing.

The exhibition of "Mùa xanh muôn một"

This is the third year the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports organized large-scale Huyen Tran Temple Festival, with two parts of ceremony and festival. Besides the main ceremony part, this year's festival part creates the joyful and excited atmosphere during the early spring with traditional cultural, and sports activities, such as: “bài chòi” game, the game of earthenware pots breaking, the game of sticks pushing, and calligraphy performance, etc.

In the framework of the Festival, there is also the exhibition of "Mùa xanh muôn một", which is co-organized by Hue Museum of Fine Arts, and Le Ba Dang Art Center. The exhibition showcases 20 works by artist Le Ba Dang, including 18 oil paintings and two wood sculptures.

Children paint the environment

Contributing to raising the awareness of environment and wildlife protection for students of Huyen Tran Primary School (Hue City), Thua Thien Hue Forest Protection Department has just collaborated with the school to hold a painting competition at Huyen Tran Cultural Center.
