Interplast offers free surgery for patients with facial deformities

TTH.VN - On February 27, Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep - Director of Hue Central Hospital, and the Board of Directors of the Odonto-Stomatology Center, International Cooperation Department, had a meeting to welcome the Interplast delegation from Germany.

The delegation consists of 14 members led by Prof. HIDDING Johannes - plastic and maxillofacial surgery specialist; HUYNH-BUI Thi Phuong Hong, a leading anesthesiologist, with members working at the unit until March 10.

During nearly two weeks, the delegation will coordinate with doctors of the Odonto-Stomatology Center and Hue Central Hospital's to exchange and update expertise in the field of reconstructive – plastic and maxillofacial surgery. In particular, the Interplast team plans to provide free surgeries for about 50 patients with facial deformities, scars, cleft lip and palate, jaw defects, facial bone abnormalities…

The Interplast - Germany and Hue Central Hospital have cooperated since 2016 in the field of plastic surgery. Every year, the delegation brings leading professors and doctors from major hospitals and universities in Germany to Hue to provide free medical examination and surgery for underprivileged patients suffering from cleft lip and palate, and other facial deformities that have not been operated on.

This is the fifth time Interplast worked at Hue Central Hospital.

It is known that 4 members of Interplast have been awarded the “For People's Health” Medal by the Ministry of Health for their highly effective activities in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.
