JICA supports Thua Thien Hue in developing green and sustainable urban

TTH.VN - Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho has just chaired the meeting with Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (JICA’s Vietnam Office) on the implementation of the support program “Developing Hue cultural heritage urban towards green and sustainable direction” of JICA in Thua Thien Hue.

JICA proposed to continue to support Thua Thien Hue in improving urban environment through building the waste management and treatment process, of which the expected implementation time is from 2020 to 2023; the project of improving tourism development capacity to promote cultural heritage (landscape and cultural heritage conservation, strategic promotion) through the cooperation with Gifu province, Koyama city and Gifu University.

Furthermore, JICA will appoint specialists to support Thua Thien Hue province in implementing the project of building society adapting to climate change/natural disaster in accordance with the local disaster prevention plan.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho acknowledged and highly appreciated the practical and efficient activities and supports of JICA in the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province over the time. Especially the projects on green and sustainable development; this is one of the fields which are being paid attention by the province to efficiently implement the goal of building Thua Thien Hue toward the direction of “Heritage, culture, ecology, scenery and environmental friendliness”.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee desired to keep on receiving the cooperation and support on resources and techniques of JICA to create motivation to the fast and sustainable development of the province in the coming time. Hopefully, some projects proposed at the meeting will be implemented in Thua Thien Hue province soon. Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also requested JICA to strengthen the connection in order to attract more Japanese businesses to come to investigate and invest in Thua Thien Hue province.
