Release of a wildcat into natural environment
The Center for Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Development of Bach Ma National Park released a wildcat (Felis bengalensis) back to the natural environment on March 14, after having received it from the Forest Protection Division of Phu Vang district on March 13.
Receiving the wildcat
The 3-kg wildcat was in normal health condition when it was received. Earlier on March 11, Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong in Di Dong hamlet, Phu Ho commune (Phu Vang district) had set a trap next to his chicken coop and caught a light yellow, dark brown striped wildcat.
He realized that this was a rare species and informed the local authority, as well as the functional agency to release it into the wild environment.
