Six more offshore fishing vessels newly built

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first three months of the year, the whole province has had 6 wooden fishing vessels with capacity from 500 CV to 1,000 CV being newly built in two districts of Phu Vang and Phu Loc. Each vessel is worth VND 5-6 billion, mainly invested by fishermen.

Over VND 11 billion to support transportation costs for offshore fishing vessels

On October 16, the Provincial People's Committee decided to deduct more than VND 11.4 billion of the provincial budget from the targeted additional budget of the Central government, to supplement targeted budget for Phu Vang district with the amount of VND 4,560 million, Phu Loc VND 6,220 million, Huong Tra town VND 260 million, and Hue city VND 400 million to support the costs of transporting goods for offshore fishing vessels under the Government's Decree No. 67/2014/ND-CP dated July 7, 2014 on some fishery development policies.

Giant trevally fish porridge

More than ten years ago, in the waters of the Phu Loc zone, from Vinh Thanh to Vinh Hien, the giant trevally fish or cá vẩu (also known in some areas as cá háo, a species of Carangidae) from the open sea suddenly one day got into the fish traps of the local fishermen. From then on, this species of fish has become a "God-send" source of fisheries for fishermen living along the lagoon and coastal areas.
