Six more offshore fishing vessels newly built
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first three months of the year, the whole province has had 6 wooden fishing vessels with capacity from 500 CV to 1,000 CV being newly built in two districts of Phu Vang and Phu Loc. Each vessel is worth VND 5-6 billion, mainly invested by fishermen.

In addition, many other fishing vessels are also equipped and upgraded with modern machinery and equipment, reaching out to offshore fishing grounds.
This is a positive signal in the perception of fishermen about the offshore fisheries conversion, as the Government has recently issued Decree No.17/2018/ND-CP, replacing Decree No.67. According to Decree No.17, fishermen will no longer enjoy the policy of preferential interest rates for fishing vessel building loans, switching to an one-time support for ship-owners who have invested their own capital in building new composite or steel shell fishing vessels.
