New ambience

After more than a month of opening, the Imperial Citadel Night Street Zone has become a newattraction for citizens and tourists to have fun, entertainment, and enjoy art shows on weekends. With four performance spots, the art programs combining the tradition and modernity have met the enjoyment needs of many audiences. Therefore, the area around the stage is always packed with onlookers.

Nguyen Dieu Phuong, a young spectator shared, “After more than two years of no cultural and artistic activities due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are really delighted to engage in a bustling fun atmosphere again, and enjoy a variety of art forms from the traditional to modern ones. The atmosphere is so great, and it feels like being released from the days of the pandemic."

This space is also a place for artists to showcase their talents and live with passion and dedication. Dang Le Van, a member of the group named “Guitar For You”, said, "After a long time without performing street music due to the pandemic, we have been desperate for a lively atmosphere like this. Now that we're able to perform again, we'll do our best to bring everyone special performances and a vibrant musical atmosphere."

At the "Hue - the Capital of Gastronomy" Festival taking place on the occasion of April 30th & May 1st, thousands of visitors came to experience, enjoy food, beverage and watch promiment culinary artists publicly cooking and processing special dishes.

The “Thuan An – Call of the Sea” Festival, which took place from April 28th to May 2nd, also attracts thousands of people to visit and enjoy art shows, participate in community and sport activities, creating a joyful atmosphere in summer days, promoting the development of sea tourism.

Many other art activities also attracted many artists to participate, starting with the "Heritage of Hue Ancient Capital through sketching 2022", which took place in March, organized by Hue Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with other units. This had attracted nearly 100 artists of various ages.

At that time, many artists from Hanoi had just been infected with COVID-19 but they overcame theirhealth obstacles to visit Hue to participate in sketching the beauty of the heritage. It shows the artist's desire to do creative activities.

According to Ms. Dinh Thi Hoai Trai, the excitement of participating in the sketching journey of artists is one of the favorable conditions for Hue Fine Arts Museum to organize many upcoming cultural and artistic activities to serve the public.

Recently, the exhibition "Ningyo - Art and beauty of Japanese dolls" at Diem Phung Thi Art Center also attracted 6,500 visitors. This is a good sign showing the recovery of artistic and cultural activities after the pandemic.

A robust recovery

Due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the past two years, manyactivities regarding cultural, festivals, sports, and especially normal cultural ones have been suspended. The fact of not having fun, entertainment, and enjoying culture and art for a long period of time makes many people feel frustrated and trapped. Along with the rate of vaccine coverage and gradual "normalizing" against the COVID-19 pandemic, the cultural and artistic life has never recovered as strongly as it currently does, with the anticipation and response of the citizens.

After a period of "hibernation", the museums are filled with visitors. Ho Chi Minh Museum of Thua Thien Hue welcomes many union members, young people, and students to offer flowers and report achievements on major holidays.

In the first half of May, Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities welcomed more than 3,000 domestic visitor arrivals and more than 150 international ones. In particular, more than 1,000 students came to visit, learn and experience. At Hue Museum of Fine Arts, despite the moderate number of visitors, the return of domestic and international visitors is a good sign, showing the warming up.

The revival atmosphere is also seen at theatres, stages, and cinemas. On social networks, many artists from Hue Traditional Royal Theatre of Art and Hue Theater of Opera expressed their joy when returning to the performance stage and meeting the audience directly through each show. For the movie-goers, returning to the habit of going to the cinemas to enjoy good movies helps them feel that normal life has really returned.

According to Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, after 2 years of being psychologically forced by the pandemic, the people's demand for spiritual life has been gradually increasing. Therefore, when life returns to normal, it is a fact to compensate for the spiritual life.

The Department of Culture and Sports together with the Department of Tourism, Hue Festival Center, Hue Monuments Conservation Center and other units have developed a master plan with a variety of activities within the framework of the Four-Season Festival, meeting the needs of the people’s spiritual life and attracting more tourists.

The cultural and artistic activities that have recently taken place were warmly welcomed by locals and visitors, warming up the cultural and artistic atmosphere in the province. Up to now, the cultural life of the people has almost returned to the familiar rhythm.

In the upcoming time, the week of the Cultural and Arts Festival with the theme called "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development", which takes place from June 25th to 30th with many special art programs, will be an opportunity for locals and visitors to enjoy a colorful art party.
