On June 17, the patient was transferred to Hue Central Hospital with a diagnosis of complete atrophy of the right ureter with external drainage placed on the same kidney. Previously, the patient had many operations at other local hospitals with the initial diagnosis of right ureter stones only.
At Hue Central Hospital, the patient was diagnosed with a complete loss of ureter after many surgeries, while the renal function remained as good as the other kidney. Therefore, Hue Central Hospital decided to perform autogolous renal transplant for this patient to retain her own kidney.
The operation lasted for 6 hours, with 3 surgical teams including: kidney removal, kidney wash and kidney transplant team. Surgeons performed the surgery take the right kidney and transplant into the left pelvis. This case was considered difficult according to doctors, because the patient had many surgeries causing fibrous adhesion, besides, the results of computer tomography showed that the patient's right kidney had 2 arteries and 2 veins.
Currently the patient's health is stable and can be discharged in the next few days.
