The second nationwide scientific workshop on Melioidosis
TTH.VN - On the morning of October 7, Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy – Hue University collaborated with the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Vietnam National University to hold the second nationwide scientific workshop on Melioidosis, with the goal to update and share knowledge about epidemiology, clinical characteristics of Melioidosis in Vietnam and in the world.

Attending the workshop were nearly 200 members including professors, experts, doctors working in infection specialties, emergency medicine, microbiology ... around the country. Particularly there were the participation and presentation of famous professors from the Republic of Austria, and Thailand.
Melioidosis is a serious infectious disease caused by the Burkholderia pseudomallei bacterium. Although Vietnam is one of the countries in the endemic area, epidemiological information is still limited. According to the organization board, this workshop is an opportunity to exchange and improve clinical diagnostic skills about Melioidosis for doctors working in related fields in hospitals, and medical universities around the country.
