Thua Thien Hue Union of Friendship Organizations holds 2018 mission launch meeting

On February 6, Thua Thien Hue Union of Friendship Organizations (HueFO) organized the 2017 conclusion meeting and 2018 mission launch. The 1998-born organization is the focal point for public diplomacy of the province.

In 2017, in the field of friendship and solidarity enhancement, HueFO received and interacted with 25 delegations with 242 members from various nations, ranging from high-ranked diplomats to veterans and students.

Regarding foreign aids, the organization mobilized 19 non-governmental aids which impact the life of about eight thousand people in the disadvantaged areas in the field of public health, rural development, social welfare, landmine clearance and climate change. The total disbursement for these programs is about VND 8.5 billion.
“The contribution of HueFo in particular and public diplomacy in general is always essential to the holistic and sustainable development of the province,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chief of the Office of the Provincial Party Committee in his remarks at the meeting.
For 2018, besides working harder in the field of people-to-people diplomacy, some emphases of HueFo include its contribution to the successful organization of the Festival Hue 2018 and establishment of the Vietnam-Bulgaria and Vietnam-Korea friendship associations.
