On August 21, Center for Social Research and Development held a workshop to launch the project of "Municipal Waste Recycling Program to Reduce Plastics Pollution of city, rivers and coastal areas", funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The project has total funding of over VND 1.2 billion with many activities, including: organizing workshops to find solutions to limit waste in the Huong river and waterways; collecting wastes on the beach; and collaborating to build the program on "sorting wastes at source", etc.
At the workshop, the participants indicated the status of municipal solid and plastic waste management, some experience in implementing waste classification projects, waste collection and treatment mechanism, etc.
At the same time, they emphasized that human consciousness was the most important factor in the classification of waste recycling, so it was important to direct communication to schools in order to raise awareness among students and the community about the negative effects of plastics on the environment.
