USAID funds nearly USD 10 million in livelihood support and climate change adaptation

TTH.VN - The launch of the project "Green Truong Son in Thua Thien Hue province" sponsored by US Agency for International Development (USAID) was held on April 12 with the participation of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong, sponsor representatives and other stakeholders.

The US Government-funded non-refundable project through USAID aims to promote the transfer in application of smart land usage methods in response to climate change, reduce emissions, and enhance resilience as well as adaptation to protect humans, landscape and biodiversity. The project has a capital limit of nearly USD 10 million, and the deployment period from November 2017 to December 2020.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong highly appreciated and thanked USAID for choosing Thua Thien Hue to support the conservation policy, sustainable development and enhancing the capacity of adaptation for the local community.

The provincial People's Committee will direct the provincial Project management Unit in coordination with local authorities, relevant departments and agencies in the implementation process to achieve the objectives and effectiveness of the project activities in 2018 and the following years. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee is committed to ensuring that the project activities are carried out in a transparent and effective way for the people and the locality.
