Under the cooperation between Thua Thien Hue and WWF in Vietnam, WWF will fund over 3.5 million USD to implement 6 projects in Thua Thien Hue province in the period of 2012-2022. Among these 6 projects are the project "Carbon storage and forest biodiversity conservation" in Saola Nature Reserve, the expanded area of Bach Ma National Park and the Green Corridor in Nam Dong and A Luoi districts, with a total support of over USD 2.7 million and the project "Enhancing the role of communities and social organizations in conservation work in the central area of Truong Son Mountain Range - Thua Thien Hue province", with a total support of nearly USD 300,000.

In addition, WWF has also supported USD 105,000 to implement 7 work packages within the framework of "Green Truong Son" project in Thua Thien Hue province. WWF will coordinate with foreign partners to implement the approved projects in the project document of Thua Thien Hue province during 2019-2023; focusing on supporting the project "Forest biodiversity conservation" phase 2.

Mr. Prasanna De Silva wishes that Thua Thien Hue provincial People's Committee will soon approve the project so that it can be kicked off in early May 2019.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Dung highly appreciated and thanked WWF's support and contributions to Thua Thien Hue province in the past time; at the same time, affirming that the projects supported by WWF have been effectively promoted not only in conserving natural forest biodiversity in response to climate change but also in creating sustainable livelihoods for people in the projects’ area, as well as contributing to promoting socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province.

Regarding the project "Conservation of forest biodiversity" phase 2, Mr. Nguyen Dung committed to urge related departments and sectors to assess the projects and submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval to kick off the projects as planned. Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee says that Thua Thien Hue province is currently implementing the "Green Sunday" project to raise people's awareness of environmental protection. Thus, he expressed his hope for WWF’s interest and engagement in this scheme so that the province could implement this project more effectively in the coming time.
