Patient Phan Duy Q. has just received a successful heart transplant by the doctors of Hue Central Hospital. Previously, patient Q. was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, end-stage heart failure, he also had his implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) placed in his chest more than 1 year ago and received medical treatment to wait for the opportunity to have a heart transplant surgery.

On the evening of January 2, just right after receiving information about organ donation from the National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation of a brain-dead donor in Hanoi, the Board of Directors of Hue Central Hospital urgently sent a team of doctors to Hanoi, carrying along the patient's blood sample, to receive organs.

At this time, although there were no more flights to depart, but in order to carry out the tests to receive organs in time, the doctors of Hue Central Hospital decided to travel by car during the night. At 13:00 on January 3, the heart officially left the donor's chest at a hospital in Hanoi. With the support of the National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation and Vietnam Airlines - Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines, the team of doctors transported the organs in time and landed at Da Nang airport at 3:40 p.m. on the same day.

At 16:15 on January 3, at Hue Central Hospital, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, the surgical team started the heart transplant, bringing the life back to patient Phan Duy Q. At 19:02 on the same day, the heart was beating again in patient Q's chest. One day after the heart transplant, the patient was extubated, oxygenated through a mask, hemodynamic and biochemical parameters were stable and heart function is good up to now.
