The ground-breaking ceremony of the construction of the new building

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. On behalf of the Italian Government, there was the participation of Mr. Antonio Alessandro, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Vietnam; Mr. Enrico Padula, Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City; and Mr. Michele Boario, representative of the Italian Development Cooperation office in Hanoi.

The seven-story building for the high-tech Obstetrics and Gynecology Department was broken ground along with the procurement of medical equipment, operating room equipment, and anti-infection equipment from the Italian ODA. This is once again a successful achievement and a proof of the very close and effective cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Italy, as well as between the University and its Italian partners. The building will contribute practically and effectively to improving the capacity of the hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, a Grade I hospital, and a practice base for training human resource in the health sciences sector of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The total project investment is nearly VND 172 billion. The construction period is 18 months.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong gave his thanks to the Italian Government and People for their support, assistance and companionship with Thua Thien Hue Province over the years, with many projects and activities with humanitarian significance and efficiency. At the same time, he affirmed that the ground-breaking of the construction of the new building for the high-tech Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy would not only meet the urgent need for health care for the locals, but would also become an important element for the University’s University - Hospital model at national level.
