Nguyen Tri Phuong (1800-1873) was a famous Vietnamese mandarin in the Nguyen Dynasty. He was the commander-in-chief of the Nguyen Dynasty's army against the French invaders.
After his death, in the summer in the eighteenth year of Emperor Tu Duc’s reign, the Emperor had ordered to establish Trung Hieu Tu temple in Nguyen Tri Phuong’s hometown. His tomb and the tomb of the prince consort Nguyen Lam were built by their family in around 1874.
In 1990, the historical - cultural relic site of Nguyen Tri Phuong’s temple and tomb, along with the prince consort Nguyen Lam’s tomb and the tomb of Nguyen Duy (Nguyen Tri Phuong’s younger brother) were recognized as a national-level historical cultural relic site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
