Leaders of departments, businesses and experts discussing at the international conference
According to the experts, in the period of 2015 – 2019, the number of international tourists to Vietnam witnessed an increase of 2.3 times, from 7.9 million tourist arrivals up to 18 million tourist arrivals, reaching an average rate of growth of 22.7% per year. However, the number of tourists from North Africa – Middle East countries accounted for a negligible proportion, especially Halal tourists.
Tourists from North Africa – Middle East countries, especially the countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are VIP tourists with high spending capacity and long staying days. Halal tourism will be one of the fastest developing tourism sectors in the world and Halal tourists will be one of the main segments of tourism market as Muslim population is expected to reach 2.2 billion people in 2030. To catch the trend, creating the driven green economic growth and sustainable development for the country in the coming time, Vietnam tourism needs to be better in taking advantage of the available advantages, applying the new approaches to attract more tourists from the North Africa – Middle East.
Leaders of the Tourism Department informed that in 2022, the province has fully opened up to welcome international tourists and carried out the process of tourism restoration and stimulation in the provincial area. In Thua Thien Hue, Halal products in particular and the service for Muslims in general are still limited.
Through this conference, management agencies, training institutions, and service providers will get the opportunities to know more about Halal and Halal products, at the same time, finding solutions to promote the development of Muslim-friendly tourism service in Vietnam. This is also an opportunity to connect the businesses at home and abroad and with local businesses to strengthen cooperation and investment in Halal products.
