Tang Tho Lau is a place to preserve a great number of precious books written about the Nguyen Dynasty 

The precious donated books and documents will be displayed at the exhibition “Mark the History – Discover Tang Tho Lau”, which will take place on April 18 on the occasion of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day.

With the resource of valuable documents about the Nguyen Dynasty, the exhibition will introduce to viewers interesting and unexpected information that they have never known.

Organizations and individuals participating in the donation and contribution of books and documents will also be honored at the exhibition’s opening ceremony.

Tang Tho Lau (No. 344 Dinh Tien Hoang St., Hue City) was constructed in 1825, under the reign of Emperor Minh Mang with the function of being a national document storage. The work was designed in scientific architecture to store and preserve important records, documents, and papers of the court at that time. This was a rare “Archive Pavilion” of the monarchy period that have been preserved quite intactly in Hue.

In 2021, Hue Monuments Conservation Center put this historical relic into operation to establish a center to store documents and research about Hue cultural heritage.
