Leaders of Thua Thien Hue Province and Hue City cutting the ribbon to launch Hai Ba Trung Walking Street

Recently, Hue City has built the Pham Ngu Lao - Chu Van An - Vo Thi Sau Walking Street and Hue Imperial Citadel Night Street, initially forming a number of charming nightlife tourism products, and attracting visitors.

Continuing to realize the goal of turning Hue into a dynamic, interesting and unique nightlife destination, the city has continued to open Hai Ba Trung Walking Street on the basis of a road embellishment project, with the consensus of the authority and the locals. The total cost of construction and equipment investment of the project is more than VND 58 billion; of which, the first phase, with a cost of more than VND 52 billion (the section from Phan Dinh Phung Street to Ngo Quyen Street), has been completed; and the next phase, with a cost of more than VND 6.1 billion (section from Ngo Quyen Street to Ha Noi Street), is expected to be completed in August 2023.

Hai Ba Trung Walking Street is a combination of available commercial areas and the exploitation of commercial services of the locals, so as to establish a bustling hub, serving the needs of nightlife entertainment for the locals and visitors, contributing to promoting and introducing the land and people of Hue, who are friendly, hospitable, and rich in cultural traditions. In addition, this is also a venue to organize cultural exchange activities, as well as activities of art, and street music, etc., contributing to meeting the demand for cultural enjoyment for the locals and visitors, along with the socio-economic development in the area.

Hai Ba Trung Walking Street is designed with the idea of creating two clusters of modern art light points, and 3D mapping as check-in symbols for the walking street. The first symbol is the nine-floor building of VNPT, which is the symbol for busy commercial shopping walking street; and the second symbol is Cinestar Cinema, which is the symbol for the entertainment walking street.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Vo Le Nhat, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City, emphasized that Hai Ba Trung Walking Street would be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. This is the third walking street in the area; and is expected to create an open space, new destination and effectively exploiting the potential and strengths of Hue's cultural and culinary values to attract visitors; as well as facilitating business establishments to access the market, expand their scale, create economic benefits for the resident community, and create jobs for the people.

Shortly after the launching ceremony, "Hue Summer Festival 2023" was kicked off, with the Tourism Colors Carnival event on this walking street. This is the starting activity for the series of festivals and events of the tourism sector in 2023, and responding to Hue Festival 2023. The event gathered nearly 300 participants from tourism businesses in the province, students from some universities and artists from semi-professional and professional dance troupes, who dressed up and performed typical costumes of countries that are tourist markets of Thua Thien Hue such as: Thailand, Japan, South Korea, French, and the UK, etc.
