The Japanese ceramic exhibition "Yakishime - Shape of the Earth" taking place from April 27 to May 14 at Diem Phung Thi Art Center has attracted the attention from at least 10,000 visitors.
The exhibition, organized by the Japan Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam in collaboration with Hue Museum of Fine Arts, has introduced 80 Yakishime ceramic works, including tea utensils used in the tea ceremony, eating utensils, and other artworks.
Yakishime is a technique of making high-temperature glazed, unglazed ceramics, dating back to the 4th or 5th centuries. Despite being one of the most basic methods of pottery production, Yakishime has evolved in special directions in Japan.
Through the exhibition, the Japan Cultural Exchange Center in Vietnam has introduced an aspect of Japanese culture by studying Yakishime from the earliest samples to contemporary works.
