At the meeting, leaders of the Tourism Department said that the tourism sector is focusing on building up mainstream and branded tourism products on the basis of taking Hue culture as the foundation.

Along with that was the mobilization of businesses to develop some new products associated with eco-tourism, healthcare tourism; smart tourism, and agricultural tourism; as well as developing the line of spiritual tourism and craft village tourism.

The Department is also pushing up the promotion in a professional way to expand the market, linking with localities to connect inter-regional tourism products, maintaining cooperating with strategic partners such as airlines, and well-known travel agencies to form new tours, as well as connecting and opening domestic and international flight routes to increase the number of domestic and international tourists to Thua Thien Hue.

In 2023, Thua Thien Hue tourism eyes to welcome around 3 – 3.5 million tourist arrivals, including 70% - 80% domestic visitors, reaching at a total revenue of around 6.000 – 7.000 billion VND.

Related to the cooperation in opening domestic and international flights to Thua Thien Hue, the representative of Vietjet informed that they would keep on supporting and collaborating with the province to follow the discussed contents.

Vietjet is willing to provide comfortable and friendly aviation services to exploit key international flights, connecting tourism cities of Vietnam to other countries, giving priority to open flights to Singapore, Thailand, and Korea; and at the same time researching to open the flights to localities such as Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Hai Phong; raising the frequency of the flights to and from Phu Bai International Airport.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh requested Vietjet that on the basis of discussed contents, they would soon make an agreement to reach the plan in signing cooperation with the province in the work of promoting to open new domestic and international flights to Hue; thereby, developing domestic flights; researching to open flights to other localities; giving priority to open flights to Singapore and Thailand.

Mr. Binh desired that Vietjet would consider, carry out research, and connect to open Hue – Incheon (Korea) Charter flight on July 31, 2023; as well as exploiting flights to other markets such as Macao, Taiwan, and at the same time, raising the frequency of the flights to and from Phu Bai International Airport.
