The installation art space of “Behind the Doors – Nocturne of Rain”
This event is a part of the 14th edition of the “Connecting Vietnam” International Seminar held in Hue, with the theme of “Living with Heritage, Reconstructing/Creating Vietnamese and World Heritage”.
This installation art exhibition is conceived by Professor Phan Le Ha and realized through the collaborative efforts of Professor Phan Le Ha, Architect Tran Quang Trung, and Associate Professor Liam C. Kelley.
“Behind the Doors - Nocturne of Rain” is the following trial of the initial installation by Phan Le Ha entitling “Behind the Doors”, which was first opened in Hanoi in 2022. And, “Nocturne of Rain” is the continuation of the same ideas and streams of inspiration as the artist incorporates diverse creative languages, techniques, and devices into a single work.
The story behind the doors and the objects, artifacts surrounding them in this installation space holds countless fascinating and meaningful aspects that the creators aim to convey through their artworks.
The intense inspiration for this installation comes from the characters crafted by Phan Le Ha in her multi-volume storybook. Specifically, the first volume, “Behind the Doors” (The World Publishing House, 2017), is about the lives of women traversing various turbulent periods in Vietnam’s and the world’s history. The second volume, titled “Behind the Doors: Nocturne of Rain” (Women's Publishing House, 2023), continues to bring readers into the flow of history as it is revived through lives of these characters in the family and societal contexts.
The exhibition lasts until October 30th.
