The artists from the Okinawa art troupe performing the drum dance

Okinawa is an archipelago that has many similarities in spirit and lifestyle with Vietnam. In the period of war, the people here gave much practical support to Vietnam. Unlike modern cities with a strong industrial and commercial style, Okinawa still keeps its special traditional features, with many unique cultural heritages.

At the exchange session, the Okinawa art troupe performed traditional dances having existed for a long time such as drum dance, lion dance, etc., that the artists have preserved and promoted their values up to now. In return, the artists from Hue Music Academy also sent to the Japanese delegation the concertos in the system of the Hue royal court music carrying elegant and joyful timbres.

Dr. Ha Mai Huong, Director of Hue Music Academy shared that through the program, the spectators got the chance to enjoy a multi-color picture of Vietnamese and Japanese music. The more significant thing was the understanding, sharing, and sympathy between people and people, between two cultures, and between 2 countries.

“Also, from that meaning, we do believe that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan will form a foundation for the further development of the Vietnam – Japan relationship,” said Dr. Huong.
