Da Lat and Hoi An were honored among the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in terms of music, and crafts and folk art.
On the occasion of World Cities Day (October 31st, 2023), Da Lat and Hoi An in addition to 53 cities joined the UCCN after the designation by the General Director of the UNESCO.
After Hanoi being recognized as a UNESCO Creative City in the field of Design in 2019, Vietnam now has had a Creative City of Music and a Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art.
The UCCN was created in 2004 to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development. The cities which currently make up this network work together towards a common objective: placing creativity and cultural industries at the heart of their development plans at the local level and cooperating actively at the international level.
The Network now counts 350 cities in more than 100 countries, representing seven creative fields: Crafts and Folk Art, Media Arts, Film, Design, Gastronomy, Literature and Music.
