Accordingly, the category of repairing and embellishing the embankment system of Ho Thanh hao, the section from Dong Thai Dai Eo Bau site to Thanh Long channel, with a length of nearly 1,400 meters, and an investment of nearly VND 45 billion, which will be constructed in nearly three years, expected from February 2024 to December 2026. The project’s investment owner is Hue Monuments Conservation Center, and its construction unit is the Central Branch of Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology.

The scope of the project is the embankment section along Ho Thanh hao, with a length of 1,395 meters, and the items including covering the construction area with steel pipes and tarpaulin; clearing and cleaning up garbage, trees, and restoring land in the Phong Lo line and Ho Thanh hao; building cofferdams and absorbing water for the construction work; dismantling the damaged and disconnected embankment sections, classifying and cleaning the original rocks after lowering the embankment body; reinforcing the foundation with the base reinforced with bamboo piles, installing formworks, and pouring reinforced concrete (250 grade), which is 40 centimeters thick, etc.

The restoration of the stone embankment is implemented by making use of the most of the original stones that can still be used, repairing and embellishing the exterior of the embankment body; using the technique of building an embankment with mortar to bond the stone blocks, creating a concave mortar circuit from 7 to 10 centimeters on the outside of the embankment body, and placing anhydrous stones, which are 50 centimeters thick, on the back of the embankment body; at the same time, preserving, repairing and reinforcing the intact embankment sections in relatively good condition. In addition, the project will also build cofferdams, absorb water, dredge the Ho Thanh hao and fill soil for the Phong Lo line.

According to Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, in Hue Monuments Complex, in addition to the system of mausoleums of the Nguyen Dynasty's emperors, Hue Imperial City and historical and cultural works, built by the Nguyen Dynasty from the beginning of the 19th century to the early 20th century, have still preserved and contained extremely unique cultural, historical, artistic values and natural landscapes. The work of deploying the repair and embellishment of the embankment along Ho Thanh hao on the Eastern side of Hue Imperial City aims to contribute to promoting the values of Hue Imperial City monument as well as creating the landscapes, aesthetics, and highlights for tourism development, especially after the relocation of the households in area 1 of Hue Imperial City monument.
