Leaders of Hue city receiving a symbolic plaque for sponsored waste collection and transportation vehicles worth 10 billion VND from WWF - Vietnam.

During the ceremony, representatives of Hue City announced the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Awards and provided information to the local residents about this award. The ASEAN Clean Tourist City Awards is part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum, an annual award that contributes to honoring and developing high-quality tourism brands in the region. Winning this award has a positive “effect,” helping Hue stand out among other destinations within ASEAN and Vietnam.

On this occasion, Hue City also initiated the Green Sunday movement, one of the fundamental contents of the Green Sunday project “Take Action to Make Thua Thien Hue Greener - Cleaner – Brighter”, in line with the socio-economic situation of the city. This movement contributes to building Hue City towards an urban area of “Heritage, Culture, Ecology, Landscape, and is Environmentally Friendly.” Over time, “Green Sunday” has not only become a movement but also a beautiful way of life, gradually shaping the awareness and habits of the people. It has become a regular activity in every office and unit, thereby, changing the appearance from urban to rural areas, and improving the quality of people's lives.

 Provincial and Hue City leaders planting trees at Trinh Cong Son Park

After the launching ceremony, more than 700 officials, soldiers, youth union members, students, and citizens participated in tree planting at Trinh Cong Son Park and at Alley 111 on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Hue City. Simultaneously, they launched environmental sanitation activities along the Huong River (near Dong Ba Market) and cleaned the surroundings of various places in the area.

On the same morning, the project “Hue - Plastic Reduction Urban Area in Central Vietnam” (WWF - Vietnam) sponsored Hue City with two waste collection and transportation vehicles worth 10 billion VND.
