She is Prof. Dr. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa, Head of the Department of Agronomy, University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, who has made significant contributions to science for over 28 years.

Prof. Dr. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa's primary research focus is integrated soil management and sustainable crop nutrition, with a particular emphasis on soil fertility research and the development of processes for producing and using fertilizers to crops in the Central Region. Simultaneously, she also focuses on using non-chemical approaches to limit the use of chemical fertilizers, addressing concerns of agricultural product safety, and assessing the impact of climate change on crop production.

Throughout 28 years of scientific research, Prof. Dr. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa has issued 148 scientific papers in prestigious domestic and international journals; including 19 papers in ISI/Scopus journals; 92 papers where she is the main author, including 12 ISI/Scopus papers. Furthermore, the female professor has been awarded 9 national and provincial prizes for her research projects.

The Kovalevskaya Award, named after the Russian mathematician Sofya Kovalevskaya, was first awarded in Vietnam in 1985.

The Kovalevskaya Award is an international award for outstanding female scientists in the fields of research, applied science, technology, especially natural sciences – a key area in the knowledge-based economy; applying science to real life, bringing many benefits to the fields of economy and society.
