The Phu Dong Health Festival at the provincial level is a sports festival for high school students, which is held every 4 years, to maintain and promote the campaign "All people doing exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho", as well as encouraging and developing the movement of regularly practicing and competing in sports in schools to improve health, physical development, and improve the quality of comprehensive education. This is also a playground that contributes to discovering student sports talents and evaluating the physical education and school sports activities in the province.
The Provincial Phu Dong Health Festival this year attracts 3,000 amateur athletes, who are high school students aged from 7 to 18 years old, from 50 delegations of the Divisions of Education and Training, and high schools under the Provincial Department of Education and Training, and high schools under the training facilities of Hue University. The athletes compete in 262 contents with 262 sets of medals in 8 sports, including: swimming, table tennis, football, basketball, badminton, athletics, chess, and shuttlecock kicking.
The competitions are divided into two phases. The phase 1, held from March 1 to 14, includes table tennis, badminton, shuttlecock kicking, chess, and football for junior high school male students and senior high school female students. The phase 2 is held from March 23 to April 4, with the competitions in football for primary school male students, basketball, athletics, and swimming.
After the Provincial Phu Dong Health Festival, students will participate in the 10th National Phu Dong Health Festival, with the phase 1 from April 1 to June 20 in Quang Nam, and the phase 2 from July 16 to 28 in Hai Phong City.
