A corner at the exhibition “Friends” |
The exhibition named “Friends” has just been introduced to the public at Le Ba Dang Art Center (15 Le Loi Str., Hue City). With more than 30 artworks, the exhibition is regarded as a meeting of friendship among the eight artists including Pham Hoang Anh, Tran Dinh Khuong, Doan Thuy Hanh, Dinh Ngoc Thang, Nguyen Van Hai, Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong, Nguyen Hai Anh and Tran Anh Huy.
Although they belong to different generations and come from different regions from the North to the South, their works share many things in common. At the exhibition, viewers can see a romantic ancient city of Hue through paintings by Tran Anh Huy, a Hue-born artist living in Ho Chi Minh City. Away from Hue for a long time, his paintings are full of nostalgia, portraying the Tet flower market in front of Phu Van Lau or the majestic romantic church looming among houses in the city.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Hai, a Bac Ninh-born artist introduces his mysterious but exquisite and elegant still lives which drift viewers back to the past. Next to them are lacquer paintings by Doan Thuy Hanh. Her paintings look lovely and cosy, portraying merry landscapes, changing seasons and mother with her kids.
Each painting appeals to viewers in its own way and gives them various feelings. According to Mrs. Dinh Thi Hoai Trai, Director of Hue Museum of Fine Arts, Hue has been so far a source of inspiration for many poets and painters. It is the beauty of the city, “which no other places possess,” that gives local people, visitors and those who used to live in Hue many memories. With their love for Hue, they all want to do something for the city as their contribution to making Hue even more beautiful. That is the reason for this reunion and exhibition.
“Those unique paintings vary in theme and material, showing their endless creativity in style. This exhibition is an opportunity for local people, visitors and art-lovers to enjoy the colorful art by artists from the North, the Central and the South,” said Trai.
