A corner of the exhibition space

Previously, the exhibition was successfully held in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, with the aims of promoting Vietnamese fine arts and bringing the names of talented artists from the UOB Painting of the Year competition to a wide audience of art lovers.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to admire the 8 winning artworks from the first UOB Painting of the Year competition in Vietnam, along with other outstanding artworks by these 8 winning artists. The artworks are diverse in their forms of expression, including spray paint on a car hood, oil paint on canvas and ties, oil pastel and perforation, etc. The artworks' content conveys many profound messages about people, culture and the contemporary society.

The annual UOB Painting of the Year competition is a flagship art program of UOB bank, which was first held in Singapore in 1982 with the aims of recognizing artists in the Southeast Asian region and providing them with the opportunity to showcase their artworks to a wider audience. The competition was then expanded to Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and to Vietnam in 2023. This is the longest-running art competition in Singapore and one of the most prestigious in the Southeast Asia. Since its inception, the competition has helped to discover more than 1,000 artistic talents across the region.

In its first year of organization in Vietnam, the competition attracted the participation of a large number of young artists as well as professional artists across the country. The competition honored 8 talented Vietnamese artists in the two categories of Emerging Artist and Established Artist. These included the highest award, the UOB Painting of the Year, which was awarded to artist Trinh Minh Tien for his artwork “Thuy Phu” (“Water Palace”), and the top Emerging Artist of the Year award, which was presented to artist Ta Duy Tung for his work “Tren con duong” (“On the Road”).

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge until April 30.
