According to Coach Dinh Van Kien, Hue's Wrestling Division, Sambo is a martial art developed grounded on the crystallization and gathering of the foundation of traditional wrestling arts of the peoples of the former Soviet Union. This sport has selectively inherited the essence of other martial arts. This is also among the four martial arts whose official tournaments have been organized worldwide.

The 2024 National Sambo Club Championship, first organized on a nationwide scale, is an opening for athletes to compete and improve their professional qualifications, whereby the National Sambo team can be supplemented with brilliant athletes for international tournaments. With achievements of 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 6 bronzes, ranking 3rd in the entire delegation in their first-time competition, Hue wrestling in particular and Thua Thien Hue sports in general have ceaselessly affirmed their brand in major arenas.
