This is the first time that the paragliding performances are held at Tam Giang Lagoon, which are organized by Da Nang Paragliding Club in collaboration with the unit accompanying the “Song nuoc Tam Giang” Festival (“Tam Giang Waves” Festival).

At the event, the locals and visitors had the opportunity to experience the feeling of freely flying through the air by motorized paragliders, and enjoy the beautiful panorama of Tam Giang Lagoon from above. This is a rare opportunity to admire one of the largest lagoons in Southeast Asia from a completely new and unique perspective.

From early afternoon, hundreds of locals from the Quang Dien District and visitors gathered at the Con Toc wharf and along the Tam Giang Lagoon to witness the paragliding performances by pilots in the sky. Around 2:30 p.m., the paragliders began their performances over the waters of Tam Giang Lagoon.

The paragliders being equipped with engines flew from the Cultural Center of the district and gradually made their way towards Tam Giang Lagoon. Upon reaching the destination, the pilots flew the paragliders gracefully across the sky. From the sky, the colorful paragliders looked majestic, like hawks soaring through the air.

As night fell, and when thousands of people gathered at the stage to admire the artistic performance at the opening ceremony of the “Song nuoc Tam Giang” Festival, four paragliders in a row flew right above their heads. The paragliders with lighting effects added to the beauty in the night sky, above the shimmering and magical stage, at the foot of Tam Giang Lagoon.

As Quang Dien has entered the summer season, the rather hot weather affected the performances of the pilots. Mr. Cuong, a paraglider pilot participating in the performances, shared that it was his second time participating in paragliding over Tam Giang Lagoon (the first time was a trial flight in March 2024). From above, it was a picturesque landscape painting with captivating beauty. According to him, the lagoon area is a pretty good place to perform long-distance flights.

“Tam Giang is one of the best destinations for long-distance paragliding in Vietnam. When flying here, pilots can admire the vast mangrove forests interspersed with gentle rivers. Especially from above, they can see the largest lagoon ecosystem in Southeast Asia, with its vast vegetations and mangrove forests that stretch as far as the eye can see,” said Mr. Cuong.

Over the course of two days, dozens of people registered to experience paragliding with pilots to admire the beauty of Tam Giang Lagoon from above. Many visitors were extremely excited to experience paragliding for the first time, and enjoy the stunning scenery right in their homeland. Each flight lasted about 15 to 20 minutes, and the organizing committee arranged two paragliders for visitors to experience.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam, a native of Quang Dien, said: “The feeling of conquering heights and flying in the sky to admire the panorama of the place where I was born and grew up by the Tam Giang Lagoon is so exciting. When I was paragliding in the air, I could feel the the vast space from above. All had beautiful colors that could only be seen from high up in the air.”

“This year, upon hearing that there would be paragliding performances at the “Song nuoc Tam Giang” Festival, my family and I arrived very early. This is the first time I see paragliding in Quang Dien with my own eyes. I hope that in the future, there will be more interesting programs and activities for tourism in Tam Giang Lagoon,” shared Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam.
