This is an award given to hospitals that meet strict criteria in heart failure management.
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University has been recognized for its continuous success in “Adhering to Heart Failure Guidelines” (Get with the Guidelines – Heart Failure); applying the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve the quality of patient care in the community served by the hospital.
The criteria to receive the SILVER PLUS award from the AHA are very stringent, including: The percentage of heart failure patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) and without contraindications to both angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) being prescribed ACEI or ARB at discharge; the percentage of heart failure patients being prescribed evidence-based selective beta-blockers (Bisoprolol, Carvedilol, Metoprolol Succinate CR/XL) at discharge.
Additionally, another criterion is the percentage of heart failure patients with documented left ventricular function (LVF) evaluated before admission, during hospitalization, or planned for evaluation after discharge; the percentage of eligible heart failure patients scheduled for a follow-up appointment, with the location, date, and time for follow-up visits or the location and date for a home health visit recorded.
To receive the SILVER PLUS award, these criteria must be met for at least 85% of heart failure patients and maintained for at least 12 consecutive months. If these results continue to be maintained for 24 months or more, the GOLD PLUS award will be received. Previously, in 2023, the American Heart Association awarded the BRONZE PLUS Heart Failure Achievement Award to Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital.
