Students listening to the speaker sharing about the art of calligraphy |
At the program, students from Phu Xuan University had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Deputy Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center, sharing about the beauty of the art of calligraphy. This art requires patience and meticulousness from the writers, as well as a deep understanding of the language which it expresses.
During the exchange session, the students also had the opportunity to take a look at outstanding calligraphy and calligraphy-painting works, and calligraphy performances. Besides, they were introduced to calligraphy writing techniques and had hands-on practice.
Through this activity, Phu Xuan University aims to bring calligraphy into the lecture hall; thereby, connecting the past with the present through the traditional values that calligraphy brings about; making a small contribution of the higher education institution to preserving and promoting the traditional values of the Ancient Capital.
In particular, in Thua Thien Hue, the art of calligraphy is being preserved, protected, and promoted every day. This is most evident in the literary heritage on Hue royal architecture. Therefore, reviving calligraphy and teaching it to the younger generations, such as students, is a way to preserve these fine traditional values.
