The delegation of Thua Thien Hue province attended the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee to grasp the new policies of the World Heritage Committee at the 46th annual World Heritage Committee session on the implementation of the 1972 Convention - Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage, so as to have the directions to guide relevant agencies in the implementation of the field of conservation and promotion of the value of world cultural heritage in Thua Thien Hue province.

Concurrently, it also enhances the communication efforts to promote Hue Cultural Heritage widely, introduce the images of attractive destinations, the characteristics of Hue Ancient Capital land with its famous scenic spots, and especially the outstanding global values of Hue Monuments Complex, etc. This demonstrates the contribution of Thua Thien Hue province and the Vietnamese delegation at the Session of the World Heritage Committee in particular, as well as Vietnam's role and responsibility in the cooperation mechanism with UNESCO in general. The delegation continues to ensure strict implementation of commitments to the UNESCO in management, protection and promotion of cultural heritage values to concretize implementation measures, further strengthen the cooperation between Vietnam and the UNESCO towards the goal of preserving and conserving heritages for future generations.

The Session of the World Heritage Committee is taking place from July 21 - 31. This is one of the most important sessions of the UNESCO, and is of particular interest to the international community as the World Heritage Committee will consider the recognition of new World Heritages, discuss the evaluation of the protection status of World Heritages already recognized by UNESCO, and discuss the draft revision of the Guidelines for the Implementation of the UNESCO 1972 Convention.

On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and the provincial delegation had a working session with Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the World Heritage Centre.

At the working session, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh expressed his sincere thanks for the UNESCO's attention and support to the preservation of Hue Cultural Heritage. The local authority is always interested in directing the preservation of Hue Cultural Heritage to ensure the harmony between preservation and sustainable development, ensuring the harmony of benefits for the local community. The local authority is focusing on building the goal that by 2025, Thua Thien Hue will become a centrally-governed municipality on the basis of preserving and promoting the value of the Ancient Capital’s heritage and Hue cultural identity with its unique characteristics of culture, heritage, ecology, landscape, environmentally friendly and smart city.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh also expressed his hope that UNESCO would continue to accompany and strengthen technical support for Thua Thien Hue in the work of sustainable heritage conservation and development.
