Le Ngoc Thai, the artist, (in the middle) was one of the three individuals to receive the insignia “For the Cause of Vietnam’s Fine Arts”

This is the 29th edition of the Fine arts Exhibition of the Region IV. It holds the prestigious position as the annual major award in the region for painters, sculptors, and both professional and amateur artists from six provinces and cities, including Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa, and Thua Thien Hue, under the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.

With 333 paintings and sculptures from 211 artists participating in the exhibition, the Art Council, chaired by Nguyen Thien Duc, the artist (Executive Committee member, and Art Council member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association), scored and selected 226 fine arts works by 188 artists for display at the exhibition; of which, 109 fine arts works by 71 artists, who are members of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, and 117 fine arts works by 117 artists, who are members and collaborators of the local Literature and Arts Association. Thua Thien Hue has 49 artists with 66 fine arts works participating in the exhibition.

This year, there were no fine arts works winning the A prize. There were 2 B prizes, 3 C prizes, and 7 Encouragement prizes. Thua Thien Hue won 1 C prize (for the oil painting “Dau thoi gian” (“The Marks of Time”) by Dang Mau Triet), and 2 Encouragement prizes (for the welded iron sculpture “Chan dung” (“The Portrait”) by Le Ngoc Thai, and the lacquer painting “Dem tren dong song Huong” (“Night on the Huong River”) by Nguyen Dang Son). Additionally, Thua Thien Hue had 7 out of 17 fine arts works nominated for the 2024 National Committee Award of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations for the artists, who are members of local Literature and Arts Associations and local collaborators.

On this occasion, Le Ngoc Thai, the sculptor, was honored to be one of the three individuals who were awarded the insignia “For the Cause of Vietnam’s Fine Arts”, and Le Trung Kien was recognized as one of the two young artists.
