Hue Central Hospital and Can Tho General Hospital have discussed and exchanged details regarding activities related to kidney transplant techniques.

According to the agreement, Hue Central Hospital will provide guidance on regulations, legal procedures, and requirements related to kidney transplant procedures; assist with documentation and the selection of transplant pairs; and support Can Tho General Hospital with necessary tools, medications, chemicals, and materials for performing kidney transplants.

Can Tho General Hospital will send a team to observe 1-2 kidney transplants at the Hue Central Hospital. They have requested training on the entire process, from surgical procedures and post-transplant medical care to drug administration methods. Both parties have also discussed and exchanged detailed plans for performing the transplant in Can Tho, including selecting the transplant pairs and planning the execution of the transplants.

It is anticipated that at the end of November, Hue Central Hospital will send a team to assist Can Tho General Hospital for the first kidney transplant.

Hue Central Hospital began performing kidney transplants in 2001. Kidney transplantation is considered a key specialty, leading advancements to develop various fields such as nephrology, immunology, anesthesia, intensive care, biochemistry, and experimental surgery. Hue Central Hospital has also trained, supported, and transferred kidney transplant techniques to several hospitals across the country. In addition to kidney transplants, other organ transplant techniques have been regularly performed at the unit, with more than 2,000 cases to date.
