Receiving a rare and precious turtle |
The person who handed the yellow-headed temple turtle (Heosemys annandalii) over is Mr. Truong Le Ba Duc from Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province. He accidentally discovered a strange turtle and captured it, then contacted the Dong Ba Ward Police (Hue City) to hand it over. Immediately afterward, the Dong Ba Ward Police transferred the turtle to Hue City’s Forest Protection Department to take care and carry out procedures for releasing the turtle back into the wild.
Previously, Hue City’s Forest Protection Department had received a rare and precious bourret's box turtle (Cuora bourreti), which was voluntarily handed over by Phan Ngoc Nhat Minh, a student at To Huu Secondary School, residing in Thuan Loc Ward, Hue City. At the same time, the Phu Loc District’s Forest Protection Department had received a python from Loc Binh Police. This python was voluntarily handed over by Mr. Nguyen Trang from Loc Binh Commune.
All of the above animal individuals belong to the group of rare and precious species, listed in the Vietnam Red Book, and are in need of strict conservation and protection. Forest ranger units are currently carrying out procedures to release these animals back into the wild in accordance with the law.
