The Provincial Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board - the investor of the Huong River overpass project, shared that the Huong River overpass is expected to be completed and put into use in mid-December 2025, contributing to creating a highlight for Hue City and creating momentum for economic, social, tourism, service, and other fields’ development in the area.
Regarding the coastal area, contractors are also focusing on the coastal road project and Thuan An seaport Overpass (Hue City) to speed up progress, aiming for completion by the end of this year under provincial leaders’ directives.
Mr. Ngo Van Truong, the commander of Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company - one of the bridge construction units, shared that the piers, abutments on the sea, and the approach road have also been completed. Currently, the construction units are focusing on human resources and materials for the remaining items to complete the project on schedule.
During the conversation with the elders of Hai Duong commune and Thuan An ward, everyone shared the same excitement because their hometown is increasingly developing, progressing toward the status of a centrally-governed municipality.
Regional connectivity, creating momentum for development
In addition to the two key projects above, many other traffic projects are also being concentrated on and invested in, including the Phong Dien - Dien Loc rescue and emergency road, along with the inner-town roads, have created an increasingly modern urban appearance for Phong Dien district.
"After many years of waiting, the Phong Dien - Dien Loc rescue and emergency road has finally opened to one-way traffic route. The road is like a long silk strip ribbon from National Highway 1A straight out to Dien Loc Beach. At this pace, the road will soon be completed and put into operation, facilitating travel and goods transport, especially for residents of the Ngũ Điền area,” said Nguyễn Quốc Văn, a resident of Phong Điền town.
Phong Dien is striving to become a suburban town - a strategic urban area located at the northern gateway of the province. Therefore, the investment, upgrading and expansion of many roads in recent times have played a significant role in realizing this goal.
Transport infrastructure is critical in fostering the socio-economic development of regions and areas. Therefore, in recent times, numerous transportation projects such as bridges and roads have been invested in the central urban area of Hue City and spreading across the districts. Typical projects include the Hoa Xuan, Tam Giang, Thuan An, Truong Ha, Tu Hien, Chan May, Lang Co, Canh Duong, Vinh Thanh, and Vinh Hien bridges.
Lê Anh Tuan, Director of the Provincial Department of Transportation, emphasized that urban transportation improvements have been unlocking new opportunities for provincial development. The fact that the province becoming a centrally governed municipality will bring further momentum and resources for development, including transportation.
In addition to the projects being implemented, there will be many more transportation projects being implemented and invested in in the near future. Particularly, there would be the extension of To Huu Road to Phu Bai Airport, the Ring Road 3 project, the expansion of the eastern section of the North-South Expressway (Cam Lo–La Son segment), and a connecting road from An Van Dương Zone B to Phu Da Town Center. Urban beautification projects and infrastructure development in economic zones and industrial parks are also set to bridge the urban-rural gap in transportation.
Increasingly modern urban transportation has been opening up many opportunities for Thua Thien Hue to "take off", aligning with its upcoming position as Vietnam’s sixth centrally-governed municipality.
Besides, the walking route along the Nhu Y River is gradually being completed. After being completedand put into use, this route along with the other walking route, which is also the embankment of the Huong River - the section from Da Vien Bridge to Thien Mu Pagoda, and the ironwood pedestrian bridge along the Huong River will create new check-in points to attract tourists, contributing to the urban development of Hue City.
The Hue City People’s Council has also approved a pedestrian and cycling bridge over the An Cuu River (the Y-shaped bridge). This project will enhance the scenic corridor along An Cuu riverbanks, connecting the southern pedestrian path on the southern bank of the Perfume River, will create a new look for the land of Hue ancient capital.
