Improving the management to protect Ta Trach reservoir

The conference was organized by the Department of Economic Security of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries - Ministry of Public Security (A86) in coordination with the Irrigation Construction and Investment Management Board 5 - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

At the meeting, Major General Nguyen Ngoc The, Director of A86 asserted that the safety of Ta Trach lake is not only important in the economic field but also a matter of security, politics and social safety. Thus, the Ministry of Public Security will plan and develop schemes for protection. "The Ministry of Public Security will coordinate with MARD, Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, Irrigation Construction and Investment Management Board 5 and relevant ministries to demarcate, estimate cost and to deploy forces to meet the demand of ensuring the security and safety of the works in the process of management and exploitation," Major General Nguyen Ngoc The emphasized.

The Ta Trach reservoir (Duong Hoa Commune, Huong Thuy Town) is built on the Ta Trach river, 10 km far from Hue with a reservoir valley area of 717km2, and with a flood prevention capacity of 509.8 million m3.
