The project led by Dr. Nguyen Viet Tuan (Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry), implemented for over two years, with the total budget of more than VND 470 million was accepted by the provincial Council of Science and Technology on October 25.

Accordingly, four new cassava varieties were tested including KM21-12 (suitable for hilly areas), KM419 (suitable for mountainous areas), KM98-5 (suitable for sand-dune areas) and KM444. Especially, the KM444 is a promising cassava variety for all three ecological zones and highly effective (about VND 2.7 to 3.1 million/hectare). It can be added to the province's crop structure and replace the currently-cultivated cassava variety KM94 with low efficiency and productivity.
