Overview of AMM conference in Da Nang on the morning of November 8 

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh co-chaired the meeting. Executive Director of the International Secretariat, Head of observer delegation, Chair of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), and Director-General of the World Trade Organization were also present.

At the APEC Ministerial Meeting, members will discuss what APEC has been doing to address the important objective and will discuss the next steps to accelerate the process of achieving the Bogor goals.

According to Minister Tran Tuan Anh, in the context of the rapid change and instability of the global economy, what members are doing is “a strong message that reflects steadfastness and determination of APEC in pursuing a free and open region for trade and investment.”

In preparation for AMM 29, the APEC Concluding Senior Officials Meeting (CSOM) was held in Da Nang earlier. This is the last SOM conference in APEC 2017, attended by 21 APEC SOM Heads and nearly 200 delegates, including representatives from member economies, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

CSOM listened to reports of the Chairs of APEC committees: the Economic Committee (EC), the Committee on Trade and Investment (CTI), the Budget and Management  Committee (BMC), the Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation (ECOTECH) and other cooperative areas to report to AMM 29.

CSOM has agreed to submit to AMM 29 for approval of a series of important documents, bearing the stamp of the APEC 2017.
