The workshop is attended by many speakers and researchers of Hue.
The workshop took place in the framework of the 25th anniversary of Korea-Vietnam relations and 10th anniversary of the twinning between the two cities of Hue and Gyeongju, with the participation of many speakers and researchers from the two countries. Numerous perspectives, proposals, exchanges and experiences were presented at the workshop so as to help Hue preserve and restore its cultural heritages in the area.
Mr. Huh Kwon, Director-General of the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP) said that Hue and Gyeongju were the cities with many similarities of many monuments and cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO as the world cultural heritages. Therefore, for sustainable development, the people play a very important role, city leaders need to respect the people's opinions; at the same time, they also need to have appropriate policies to preserve and promote the cultural values, and not to go against the people’s desires.
Mr. Choi Yang Sik, Mayor of Gyeongju city said that Gyeongju would promote Hue's images to the city’s people in particular and South Korean people in general, and bring 20,000 people of Gyeongju to travel to Hue every year, in order to facilitate their learning about architecture, culture and people of Hue.
In the future, Gyeongju will not only cooperate in tourism development but also promote investment cooperation, as well as organize many workshops sharing experiences on conservation and promotion of Hue’s cultural heritages.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of Hue city People's Committee highly appreciated the cooperation in the past 10 years of Gyeongju city and the aims of the workshop to give experts and leaders of Hue city an opportunity to exchange and share experiences. In the process of development, Hue always makes adjustments to have the strategic focus policies and orientations; and learns from experiences of other cities to contribute to the conservation and promotion of cultural heritages’ values in the area.
