Coastal landslides in Thuan An
The project is invested by the Provincial Management Board of Agricultural and Rural Development Projects with the total investment of over 300 billion VND. The implementing time is 3 years, starting from the day of commencement, which is expected to begin at the beginning of 2019.
The project will build a new embankment system with the total length of over 3km along-shore the coast from Thuan An to Tu Hien seaport. In the first phase, the project gives priority to invest the urgent, important articles with the total expense of over 207 billion VND.
The work aims to prevent the erosion, protect Thuan An - Tu Hien coast; directly protecting the concentrated residential areas of 5 poor stricken coastal communes with 1,316 households, nearly 5,753 inhabitants. This area has more than 450 hectares of land used to produce 2 rice crops per year, 85 hectares of aquacultures and 14 hectares of coastal protective forest.
The project also directly protects 3 km of coastal defense route running parallel with the embankment line, combining with the crest to serve traffic; step by step creating the system of averting coastal landslides from Phong Dien district to Phu Loc district with the target program: mitigating and preventing disaster caused by climate change.
