The workshop is an opportunity to evaluate the actual situation in operation of nationwide museum system

According to the statistics from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there are 162 museums all over the country, in which there are 13 units of Ho Chi Minh museum and commemorative monument system. The museums’ operations are still limited such as slow changing display form, closed activities, lack of professional experts, linking methods being desultory and separate, etc. Therefore, renovating the museum content is necessary to promote the values of museums and monuments.

With the participation of managers and experts from 20 museums and monuments all over the country, the workshop clarified the role and position of museums in general and the system of Ho Chi Minh museums, commemorative monuments in cultural life in particular; evaluating the actual situation, thence offering innovative orientations and solutions in displaying to promote the values of this cultural institution system.

Dr. Vu Manh Ha, Director of Ho Chi Minh museum emphasized: “Many museums renovate slowly due to the lack of orientations, documents, artifacts, expense and human resources, etc., and the system of Ho Chi Minh museums and commemorative monuments is not out of the laws. Display renovation is a vital issue, not only to affirm the position and the importance of museums in social life but also to wake up the inherent potentials of heritage treasure which are being preserved by museums and monument”

According to poet Nguyen Khoa Diem, former Head of the Central Propaganda Department: “The display of museums should be simple, creating the friendly linking between history figures and living people. Museums’ operation must help the public access the history in all new forms which attract people”
