Distinguished guests attending the ceremony included Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission for Popularization and Education Vo Van Thuong; PCC member, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien; PCC Member, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary Le Truong Luu reported that Comrade Nguyen Chi Dieu came from a Confucian family at Thanh Tien village, Phu Mau commune (Phu Vang district). He had opportunities to study with devoted and patriotic teachers. With 31 years of age, 12 years of being a Party member and 14 years of revolutionary activities, Comrade Nguyen Chi Dieu was assigned many important tasks by the Party. He was the leader and organizer of the movements for civil and democratic rights that created the vibrant revolutionary movement of the people of Thua Thien Hue province and other central provinces at that time. The outstanding contribution of Comrade Nguyen Chi Dieu would shine forever in the heart of his homeland and the country.
“Thua Thien Hue is proud to be the birthplace of an eminent person, a loyal communist soldier, and an excellent leader Nguyen Chi Dieu. Promoting the patriotic and revolutionary traditions of the elders, particularly following Comrade Nguyen Chi Dieu’s example, the Party committee, government and people of Thua Thien Hue province have focused their efforts and wisdom for strategic development planning, explored and conducted experiments to develop an appropriate development orientation; and made step-by-step breakthrough in all socio-economic fields over years,” added Secretary Le Truong Luu.
The anniversary re-enacted the process of shaping the great personality and thoughts of Comrade Nguyen Chi Dieu - the loyal communist soldier and the brightest example for the Party’s glorious revolutionary cause.
